New School Councillors 2018/19
We are proud to present our new school councillors. Jessica, Martyna, Wren, Dexter, Jack, Kiara and Hannah will be a vital part of the school council, acting as a link between the teachers and governors and the children. They will be running regular surgeries where children can attend and 'use their voice' for the good of the school and community.

What a busy start to the year, already we have:-
- Taken a traffic survey in response to concerns raised by pupils about their safety outside whilst crossing the road in the morning and evening. This was linked to the parking situation around school. The school and Mrs Mercer have taken this on board and have invested in new signage that is outside both morning and afternoon encouraging people to drive/ park carefully.

What we’ve done so far this year!
- We have written a letter to Trevor Hobson thanking him for his donation of a PA system. This will be used at school discos and on sports day.
- We spoke to an Ofsted inspector about our school lunches, tuck shop and how our school promotes a healthy lifestyle.
- We went to Fairfield Infant and Nursery School with Mrs Mercer to sample their wonderful roast dinner.
- We have held lots of School Council Surgeries where children have had the chance to put forward any ideas or suggestions to improve the school, also for children to talk about things which are not working well and we then work together to find solutions.
- We gave a powerpoint presentation in assembly to increase the awareness of the dangers of plastic in the environment.
- We wrote a page for the school newspaper on recycling, reducing and reusing paper and plastic waste.
- We spoke with Mr Pickering about how much paper the school recycles each week.
- We spoke with Miss Hockram about food wastage after lunchtimes.
- We organised a poster competition about designing a poster which could be displayed around school to promote recycling and then wrote to Ruth George the local MP to ask if she would judge the competition and come into school for a question and answer session with the children.
- We designed a questionnaire for parents about how much they recycled.
- We have just started looking at the different healthy options available both at lunchtime and from the tuck shop.
