Extracting D.N.A FROM A BANANA
This year some of the children from year 6 (us - Martyna, Jack, Veronica and Wren) have taken part in a science club at Buxton Juniors. This term we extracted D.N.A from a banana. It was so much fun. This is how we extracted the D.N.A. First, we mashed up some bananas. Then we added washing up liquid and salty water. Then we put into a container, got some toothpicks and fished out the D.N.A.
My favourite part was looking at the D.N.A. We can't wait to go back again in February to do another experiment.

BUILDING BRIDGES
This term at STEM club, we had the challenge of building bridges. We found out that making triangles helped the bridge to be sturdy and strong. We then had a competition to see which bridge could hold the most weight. Ours won!
